Memorial Volume ‘Yagyavikram Rana Smriti Grantha’ Unveiled
Kathmandu, 2082 Falgun 3 - The ‘Yagyavikram Rana Smriti Grantha’ has been unveiled in memory of creator and social worker Assistant Rathi Engineer Yagyavikram Rana.
On the occasion of Yagyavikram Rana’s 14th memorial day and 102nd birth anniversary, the Yagyavikram Rana Vagmaya Pratisthan held a program in the capital on Saturday. Prof. Dr. Vasudev Tripathi, Dr. Premsingh Basnyat, Shashivikrama Rana, Prof. Dr. Dayaram Shrestha, among others, jointly unveiled the book.
Yagyavikram Rana’s daughter, Geeta Basnyat, said the family was encouraged to publish a book dedicated to her father because of the roles he fulfilled alongside his service life—creation, social service, and responsibilities as the head of the family. She expressed the view that the fragrance of his works and personality is felt in every corner of the home.
Prof. Dr. Vasudev Tripathi said that every creative personality remains immortal because of the works they leave behind. He expressed hope that, through the book, creator Yagyavikram Rana would remain in discussion forever.
On the occasion, Prayagraj Vashishtha discussed the contributions that creator Yagyavikram Rana and his spouse made for society. He informed that editor and coordinator Banita Rana, Yagyavikram Rana’s youngest daughter, and the family carried out research and compilation for more than 2 years to prepare the book.
At the program, Dr. Premsingh Basnet mentioned that, while he was in military service, he had the opportunity to serve in the Nepali Pyara Commando formed under the leadership of Assistant Rathi Yagyavikram Rana.
Similarly, advocate Hari Aryal recalled that, at the initiative of creator Yagyavikram Rana, a library was established in the Baneshwor area, various educational activities were carried out, and books were published. He recalled that his nature of encouraging, assisting, and rewarding those who wanted to read helped residents of the area and members within the family gain strong energy to read more. The book mentions creator Yagyavikram Rana and his active engagement along with his multifaceted talent.
