NEB Announces Final Preparations for Class 12th Annual Examination and Revised Grade Enhancement Guidelines

The National Examination Board (NEB) has announced that the preparations for this year's class 12th annual examination are in the final stage, indicating an important milestone for students. A significant number of students, approximately 467,389, have successfully filled out the examination forms, demonstrating their commitment to academic excellence.

Scheduled to commence on Baishakh 26, 2080 (9th May 2023), the upcoming examination will be a crucial moment for these students as they aim to showcase their knowledge and skills. The NEB has diligently completed the task of appointing examination centers for this year's class 12th annual examination, ensuring a smooth and organized process.

Dr. Mahashram Sharma, Chairman of the board, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made, stating that the selection process for center presidents, inspectors, and other relevant personnel has reached its final stages. Apart from the technical aspects, the NEB has successfully completed various essential tasks related to the examination.

In a notable development, more than 56,000 students are set to participate in the grade enhancement exam this year. These students, who received the lowest marks in a particular subject, will have the opportunity to improve their grades through this supplementary examination. This decision marks a change from previous guidelines, as students who previously obtained non-graded 9NG0 in three or more subjects were required to take exams for all subjects. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology revised the letter grading guidelines in 2078, leading to this amendment.

Under the revised guidelines, students who have received NG in more than two subjects will only need to take the grade enhancement examination in those specific subjects. Chairman Dr. Sharma emphasized that even if students have filled the examination form for all six subjects, they are only required to take the examination in the subject where they received an NG grade. This adjustment aims to reduce the burden on students and provide a fair and efficient evaluation system.

Previously, according to the letter grading system implemented last year, students who received an NG grade in more than two subjects were required to take the exam for all subjects. However, this year, 56,000 students faced the challenge of appearing for exams in all subjects after failing to pass the grade enhancement exam conducted in the previous year. Recognizing the potential increase in student dropout rates, Education Minister Ashok Kumar Rai revised the guidelines based on the proposal put forth by the National Examination Board.

With these recent developments, students can now focus their efforts on the subject where they aim to improve their grades, ensuring a more targeted and effective preparation for the upcoming class 12th annual examination. The NEB's commitment to fair evaluation and providing opportunities for academic growth is evident, emphasizing the significance of continuous improvement in the education system.
