The organizational restructuring of the Nepal Army 2077/78 has been implemented. The organizational restructuring of the army was approved by the meeting of the Council of Ministers on July 8. According to the Military Public Relations and Information Directorate, Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa handed over the flag to the Commander-in-Chief at a ceremony held at the Army Headquarters Jangi Adda on Friday.

The organizational restructuring 2077/78, which came as a continuation of the 3 plus 1 command concept approved by the government in principle, has laid the groundwork for the National Security Policy and Long-Term Thinking 2087.

It has been informed that the full implementation of the organizational restructuring will take place by Ashad 2081 BS. The four command headquarters have come into full operation from today. The command has been told that the required officer and gross rank posts will be gradually completed in the next six years.

The Army has stated that an organizational structure is needed for the implementation of the 3 plus 1 command concept, which is aimed at fulfilling the constitutional and other responsibilities of the army more effectively. In view of the international, regional, and national security environment and international practice, the organizational structure has been put forward to make the army timely, professional, mobile, and dynamic.

It will contribute to the development of the capacity to rescue and control wildlife poaching in the riverine areas of Nepal and to include the ad hoc established Border Monitoring and Survey Directorate. It has been informed that the organizational restructuring will prove to be a cornerstone to address and manage the problems in the career development of the rank and file officers, peddlers, and villagers among those currently seen at the field level.

In the process of organizational restructuring, there will be no increase in the existing total number of posts in the army and there will be no change in the number of special category posts. The army has stated that the capacity and concept of communication technology, medical, endowment, engineering will be improved after the implementation of organizational restructuring 2077/78.
