Students Studying Higher Education in Nepal Increase by 10.9%
The number of students pursuing higher education in Nepal has increased by 10.9 percent. In fiscal year 2080/81, the number of students studying higher education was 672,489. In fiscal year 2081/82, it increased to 745,770.
According to the Economic Survey 2082/83, among the total students studying higher education, the highest share, 50.5 percent, is in the Management Faculty. Agriculture has the lowest share, with 0.15 percent of students.
The survey states that around 80 percent of students are studying in the Management, Education, and Humanities and Social Sciences faculties.
Among students studying in central and provincial universities, health science academies, and campuses operating in Nepal under foreign affiliation, 47.9 percent are in constituent campuses under Tribhuvan University, while 27.4 percent are in affiliated campuses. Together, this accounts for 75.3 percent of the total students. Another 24.1 percent of students are studying in other universities and programs.
In terms of government investment, 67.5 percent is invested in Tribhuvan University, while 32.5 percent is invested in other universities and programs.
As of Falgun 2082, the country has 21 universities, including 15 central universities and six provincial universities. Similarly, there are eight health science academies, including six under the federal government and two under provincial governments.
