One Battle After Another Takes Best Picture at the 2026 Oscars
At the 98th Academy Awards ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Warner Bros.' film “One Battle After Another” secured the biggest honor of the night. The film was declared Best Picture at the globally renowned awards.
The film, which presents a story of political tension, social conflict, and personal struggle, had already attracted wide international attention for its layered narrative, powerful performances, and the director’s strong presentation. It received positive responses from both critics and audiences, and its narrative structure, visual composition, and performances by the actors were especially praised.
The film also succeeded in the Best Director category. Paul Thomas Anderson won the Best Director award for the film. By winning Best Film Editing and other technical categories as well, the film achieved notable success at this year’s Oscars.

At the award ceremony, Jessie Buckley was declared Best Actress for the film “Hamnet,” while Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for “Sinners.” “Sinners” also received awards for Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Original Score. The Best International Feature Film award went to Norway’s “Sentimental Value.”
The award for Best Original Song went to “Golden” from “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” while “F1” won in the Best Sound category. In the Best Documentary Feature Film category, “Mr. Nobody Against Putin” received the award.
In Visual Effects, “Avatar Fire and Ash” was declared the winner, while “All the Empty Rooms” won Best Documentary Short Film. Likewise, “K-Pop Demon Hunters” was named Best Animated Feature Film, and “The Girl Who Cried Pearls” won Best Animated Short Film.
