Pokhariya Secondary School in Biratnagar-3 Selects Students through Entrance Exam

Pokhariya Secondary School, located in Biratnagar-3, selects students for admission through entrance exams. The school recently conducted an entrance exam for the new academic session to select 400 students from classes 6 to 9. However, 1,853 students applied for admission, leading the school to select students based on the entrance exam. The school has fixed a quota of 100 students in each class from 6 to 9, and 407, 455, 551, and 440 students from classes 6 to 9 respectively participated in the entrance exam.

In addition, the school has received a large number of applications for admission to classes 2 to 5. Although the school has set admission quotas of 50 students for classes 2 to 4 and 100 students for class 5, it has received applications from 150 students for classes 2 and 3, 162 students for class 4, and 252 students for class 5. There is no quota for admission in class 1, but only 40 students have filled the admission form so far.

The school has been teaching computer engineering from classes 9 to 12, and there is a quota of 48 students in class 9. However, the school has received applications from 118 students for computer engineering in class 9. The school also plans to admit students through a competition in computer engineering.

Pokhariya Secondary School has come a long way since its earlier days when it faced a shortage of students and high dropout rates. The school started teaching in English medium on the advice of teachers, management committees, and parents, and its students started achieving excellent results in various exams. As a result, the number of students increased gradually from 500 in 2070 to 3,200 currently.

The success of Pokhariya Secondary School has led to an increase in the attraction of students and parents towards community schools in Biratnagar. Parents who had to pay high fees for private schools have started withdrawing their children from them and enrolling them in Pokhariya Secondary School. Other community schools in Biratnagar are also conducting quality improvement campaigns to become the choice of students.
