President Issued the Nepal Citizenship (First Amendment) Ordinance:

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has issued the Nepal Citizenship (First Amendment) Ordinance. According to a source, the ordinance has been issued to give the citizenship of the descendant to the child of the person who has got the citizenship by birth.

At present, the children of a person who got citizenship on the basis of birth could not get the citizenship of the descendant. As per the demand of the Madhes-centric party, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had passed the ordinance on citizenship by the Council of Ministers.

The citizenship bill has been under discussion in the House of Representatives for more than two years. But after the government dissolved the parliament, another citizenship act was brought as an ordinance.
