PSC Outreach Program Held in Butwal on PSC Platinum Jubilee Year

On the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee Year 2082 of the Public Service Commission (PSC), a special event titled “PSC Program Among Students” was successfully conducted in Butwal, Rupandehi, with the participation of students from all districts of Lumbini Province under the PSC Outreach Program on 2082/05/16.

During the program, Honorable Chairperson of PSC, Madhav Prasad Regmi, announced that similar programs will be organized in all seven provinces. The program saw participation from Honorable Members Bir Bahadur Rai and Dinesh Silwal, the Mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, the Registrar of Nepal Sanskrit University, the Secretary of Province PSC, the Chief District Officer of Rupandehi, representatives of local governments, employees, and around 100 students studying in Grade 12 and above.

Honorable Chairperson Madhav Prasad Regmi emphasized that PSC is Nepal’s oldest constitutional body and highlighted its reputation for fairness, integrity, and meritocracy. He expressed that these qualities have strengthened youth trust and attraction towards PSC. He urged students to prioritize entering public service instead of seeking opportunities abroad, stating that today’s program is only the beginning. He encouraged municipalities to replicate similar programs in their districts, and asked participants to share what they learned in their schools and communities while serving as new friends of PSC.

Honorable Member Bir Bahadur Rai, chair of the event, remarked that students of today are the future leaders of the nation, and the “PSC Program Among Students” has been launched to enhance youth attraction towards PSC. Other stakeholders also stressed the importance of collective support in this effort.

Mayor of Butwal, Khelraj Pandey, highlighted the issue of youth migration abroad due to lack of skill-based education and called upon PSC to work towards retaining Nepali youth within the country.

Chief District Officer of Rupandehi, Dr. Tokaraj Pandey, stated that impartiality, credibility, and merit are the core assets of PSC, and programs like this help to preserve these values.

Joint Secretary of PSC, Mr. Purushottam Sharma, presented on the historical development, constitutional and legal provisions, and working procedures of PSC. He explained that such programs encourage students to apply for PSC exams, enhance their trust in public service, and ensure the selection and appointment of competent employees.

The program also included a documentary covering all aspects of PSC, a working paper presented by Mr. Saphal Portel, Chief of PSC Butwal Office, and group discussions among students facilitated by subject experts.

Honorable Member Dinesh Silwal extended gratitude to guests, local representatives, students, and media personnel for their participation. The program concluded with Chairperson Madhav Prasad Regmi distributing the PSC Platinum Jubilee logo and certificates to participating municipalities and students.
