Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) has entered its 61st year. As it enters its 61st year, the RSS has focused on expanding its services. RSS plans to launch a 'video' service till mid-april.

Speaking on the occasion of the 61st anniversary, RSS Chairman Harihar Adhikari said that the video service would be launched by mid-April of the current fiscal year. He said that he plans to expand the number of service recipients by increasing the quality of overall news service by operating video service.

He said that there was a problem in the promotion of the RSS due to the state policy/rules and the RSS's own act/regulation and that it should be modified in a timely manner. He said that the state should think in a new way to advance the RSS as a national and international competition. Chairman Shyamal said that there were problems in the development of the staff due to various acts and regulations and requested the Ministry to assist in the new scheme being put forward by the RSS.

General Manager of the RSS Siddharaj Rai said that the RSS had succeeded in disseminating about 120,953 news items last year despite the adverse conditions created due to the Covid-19 infection throughout the year. In the period of one year from February 1, 2077 BS to mid-January 2078 BS, one lakh 43 thousand 148 news items have been disseminated in the RSS.

General Manager Rai said, "The drafting of the RSS Act, 2019 has made it impossible for the RSS to function. As the RSS staff service, conditions, regulations, and the RSS financial regulations were also submitted to the Ministry of Communications under the amendment process a year ago but have not been approved, now it is necessary to make the existing financial regulations inactive and implement the Public Procurement Act. ”

He said that a studio with modern equipment has been constructed in the new building of the central office and the necessary process has been started for the operation of video service. General Manager Rai expressed confidence that the video service would be operational and the audio service would be more effective now that the studio has been constructed. According to him, with the implementation of the RSS News Reform Guideline, 2077, issued with the objective of further improving the quality of news services, the number of investigative news and photos has increased significantly and the rate used by the mass media has increased.

In particular, the rate of access to RSS services through online media has increased significantly. In order to make the service of RSS more systematic, it is preparing to operate by purchasing integrated software technology. The use of this technology will increase the quality of news as well as solve the problem of missing news. Similarly, the process of purchasing new servers has been moved forward. The server is in the process of being connected through a purchase agreement. The archive management of the RSS is underway. There is a plan to make the work of library management of RSS more systematic as soon as the new building is constructed.

General Manager Rai expressed confidence that the ministry would provide necessary assistance in the implementation of the plan to publish the bulletin from each province by providing manpower at the rate of at least seven people in each province. According to him, the RSS has planned to conduct orientation training at all state levels to make the service effective. The RSS has also made a plan to organize a style booklet at the RSS central office for the training. The program was attended by Rajesh Pokhrel, Member of the Board of Directors of RSS, Madhav Vidrohi, Ekraj Pathak, Deputy General Managers, Heads of Departments, RSS affiliated staff unions, and Presidents of Federation of Nepali Journalists.
