So far, 392 new school buildings have been constructed in Sindhuli as part of the reconstruction effort after the devastating earthquake of 2072. It is reported that 3,197 classrooms in 550 school buildings in the district were damaged due to the earthquake. Nirmal Kumar Ghimire, Head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit in Sindhuli, informed that about 2,500 classrooms have been reconstructed with the help of various national and international organizations, including the District Project Implementation Unit Education and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

48 large school buildings have been constructed in Sindhuli with the help of a concessional loan from the ADB. These school buildings were constructed in various secondary schools in the district with an investment of more than 2 crores. Ghimire said that with the loan support of the ADB and the grant from the Government of Nepal, 41 school buildings in the district have been reconstructed and the construction of 7 more school buildings is underway.

According to the Principal of Marin Hayutar Secondary School in Ghyalekh rural municipality of Sindhuli, the school building damaged by the earthquake has been reconstructed and is now fully maintained. 37 of the constructed school buildings were built by NGOs and INGOs, while 377 were constructed through the District Project Implementation Unit Education. 48 school buildings were constructed with the loan assistance of the ADB.

The construction of the school buildings was done in four phases, and 7 school buildings are currently being constructed in the final phase. Of the more than 3,100 damaged classrooms, 2,500 have been reconstructed so far, but over 500 classrooms still need to be built. The construction of some school buildings is still pending due to the lack of land for the schools, as a large and heavy building is required for post-earthquake reconstruction.

Due to the small number of students in some schools, the buildings for schools that are likely to be merged are yet to be built. Despite this, teachers and students in rural areas of the district are happy with the completion of school building facilities. MP Lekhnath Dahal of Sindhuli Constituency No. 2 said that the construction of school buildings damaged by the earthquake in the district is in its final stages, thanks to the support and loan assistance from various donor agencies.
