Rector and Registrars Appointed at Six Universities Including TU

Prime Minister and University Chancellor Balendra Shah has appointed a rector and registrars at six universities, including Tribhuvan University (TU), on the recommendations of the respective vice-chancellors.

Details of the Newly Appointed Officials

• Tribhuvan University: Prof. Dr. Anjana Maharjan Singh (Rector) and Prof. Rabindra Shiwakoti (Registrar). Singh is a professor in TU’s Faculty of Science, while Shiwakoti is a professor in the Faculty of Education.

• Purbanchal University: Prof. Dr. Panna Thapa (Registrar)

• Pokhara University: Prof. Dr. Nirmala Jamarkattel (Registrar)

• Far Western University: Prof. Dr. Tara Datta Bhatta (Registrar)

• Mid-West University: Associate Professor Dr. Sudip Thakuri (Registrar)

• Rajarshi Janak University: Dr. Jeevan Kafle (Registrar)

The newly appointed rector and registrars took the oath of office and secrecy today at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Education and Sports.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel directed the newly appointed officials to work with teamwork and effective coordination for university reform and overall development. Stating that strong collaboration among vice-chancellors, registrars, and other officials is necessary for higher education reform, Minister Pokharel emphasized that everyone must work responsibly to develop universities into excellent and research-oriented institutions. He also expressed the ministry’s commitment to provide the necessary facilitation.

Education Ministry Secretary Chudamani Paudel expressed confidence that the newly appointed officials would play an important role in transforming universities and making their work results-oriented. Similarly, the minister’s adviser, Shailendra Jha, said they should play an active role in improving academic quality, reforming examination systems, and strengthening university capacity.

Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa said universities should focus on producing quality human resources through effective coordination among themselves. Newly appointed Pokhara University Registrar Prof. Dr. Nirmala Jamarkattel expressed her commitment to carrying out the responsibility entrusted to her efficiently.

Vice-chancellors from various universities, senior ministry officials, and others were present at the ceremony.
