School and Hostel Buildings Completed at Dangbang Secondary School
A school building and hostel building have been constructed at Dangbang Secondary School located in Ward No. 1 of Airawati Rural Municipality, Pyuthan. With the support of the Government of India, a 12-room school building and a 10-room hostel building have been built.
According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Nabil Bikram Shah, the project cost is 3,39,22,501 rupees. Out of the total cost, the Government of India has contributed 80 percent and Airawati Rural Municipality has contributed 20 percent as cost-sharing.
For the construction of the buildings, an agreement was signed between the Embassy of India and the Rural Municipality on 2081 Baisakh 26. Chairperson Shah informed that the construction was completed on 2082 Saun 25.
Inauguration of the Buildings
The buildings were jointly inaugurated by Geetanjali Branden, Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Nepal, and Airawati Rural Municipality Chairperson Shah. Counsellor Branden stated that the school building was constructed under the Community Development Programme.
“This project is a high-impact community project,” she said, “which has been built with grant assistance from the Government of India under Nepal–India Development Cooperation.”
Background of the Community Development Programme
According to Counsellor Branden, the programme, which started in 2001, has been working in the sectors of health, education, drinking water, sanitation and sewerage, rural electrification, hydropower, embankments, and river control.
So far, 590 projects with a total value of 15.22 billion rupees have been implemented under this programme. Out of these 590 projects, 65 projects are currently being implemented in Lumbini Province.
Support to Teaching and Learning
School Principal Tulsiram Acharya stated that the construction of the new school building and hostel has provided significant support to students’ teaching and learning.
“This building is not just a structure,” he said, “students have now received a safe and suitable environment for study.”
According to Principal Acharya, the new facilities have provided motivation and energy not only to students but also to parents and teachers for improving the quality of the school.
