Tenth Assembly of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences Concludes
The tenth assembly of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences has been concluded.
The meeting held on Friday at Singha Durbar under the chairpersonship of the Academy’s Chancellor and Prime Minister Sushila Karki approved the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83.
At the assembly, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bharat Bahadur Khatri presented the budget and the policies and programmes.
According to the presentation, the Academy’s budget for this year is Rs. 1 arba 89 crore 46 lakh.
Of this amount, Rs. 36 crore 95 lakh has been received from the Government and Rs. 1 arba 52 crore 51 lakh has been generated from internal sources.
In the previous fiscal year, the Academy had received Rs. 57 crore 19 lakh from the Government and earned Rs. 1 arba 13 crore from internal sources.
Service Capacity and Government Support
Chancellor and Prime Minister Karki stated that the Government will continue to provide necessary support to the Academy, which is operating 500 beds with specialised services.
She remarked that in recent years the hospital has managed advanced medical equipment and has been providing specialised health services annually to hundreds of thousands of citizens.
According to her, the fact that the Academy has established itself as a reliable health institution is a matter of pride for everyone.
Transformation and Academic Programmes
The Western Regional Hospital was transformed into the Academy in 2072.
Under the postgraduate level, 100 students are studying MD/MS in 13 departments. Three batches of the MD/MS programme have already completed their studies.
At the undergraduate level, 170 students are studying in MBBS, BNS, and BSc Nursing programmes.

The assembly was attended by Pro-Chancellor and Minister of Health Dr. Sudha Gautam, Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr. Bikash Devkota, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister Rajkumar Shrestha, and members of the assembly.
