School Winter-Summer Holidays Cut by 15 Days
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has reduced the winter and summer holidays of schools by 15 days. Until now, such holidays were being provided for 45 days in one academic session, but for this academic session, they will be limited to only 30 days.
The Ministry made this arrangement to minimize the loss in teaching and learning after the government decided to provide two public holidays a week, on Saturday and Sunday.
To implement the Ministry’s decision, the Centre for Education and Human Resource Development on Tuesday sent letters to all 77 Education Development and Coordination Units and local levels, instructing them to implement the decision. The Cabinet meeting held on Chaitra 22 had decided to provide government holidays two days a week.
The Centre has issued a six-point circular, including the reduction of holidays. According to the circular, the prayer time in schools must be limited to only 15 minutes each day. The snack break must be limited to only 30 minutes.
Similarly, instructions have been given to conduct full-time teaching and learning-related activities from Monday to Friday. The internal assessments conducted in the first and second trimesters have been directed to be managed on teaching days or in a way that does not affect teaching and learning. The Centre has also instructed schools to allocate the final 12 days of the academic session for the final examination and publication of results.
