Unveiling Skywalk Tower: A New Era for Adventure Tourism in Kathmandu, Nepal

With the opening of the Skywalk Tower on the 29th of June 2023, the landscape of Kathmandu's tourism industry has taken an adventurous leap. Constructed with a whopping private investment of around 2 billion rupees, the tower has added a new dimension to the city's offerings for thrill-seekers and tourists alike.

Adventurous Undertaking with a Unique Vision

This innovative tower is the brainchild of company chairman Athark Pokhal, a visionary committed to fostering adventure tourism in the heart of Kathmandu. Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of the valley and the desire to provide an experience unlike any other in Nepal, the Skywalk Tower came into existence.

Skywalk Point: A Unique Experience

The Skywalk Point, spanning over 5,000 square feet, promises an experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. While it boasts a capacity to accommodate up to a thousand people, for the time being, only 500 people will be allowed, ensuring an organized and manageable crowd.

Inspiration & Construction

Inspired by the enthusiasm of people engaging with Skywalk videos on social media, Pokharel and his team embarked on this ambitious project. The journey began in 2076 and saw its completion in 2080, creating a unique spectacle that is set to capture Nepal's interest, much like China's Glass Tower.

Prime Location and High-Quality Construction

The tower's location at Kamaladi, the heart of Kathmandu city, was carefully chosen for its accessibility and convenience. A team of experts, including engineer Kiran Archay and an American professor, were involved in its design and construction.

Constructed with FE 240 and 350 high-grade steels imported from India, the tower upholds the highest standards of safety. The glass used in the tower was meticulously designed in India and then brought to Nepal, ensuring the structural integrity of this monumental structure.

Inside the Tower: An Overview

The 78.5-meter tall tower houses a 360-degree view restaurant, a club, and a high-speed capacity elevator that can carry 24 people. For those who wish to experience the Skywalk, a short walk from the top floor will take you to the Skywalk Point, where the city of Kathmandu unfolds before your eyes.

Entry Details and Facilities

Entry to the tower is ticket-based, with a fee of 1,000 rupees per person for half an hour at the Skywalk Point. However, those who merely wish to view the tower from its base can do so without any charges. Safety measures are in place, including first aid arrangements for those who may need them.

The Future of Adventure Tourism in Kathmandu

As Pokharel mentions, the Skywalk Tower isn't merely a commercial venture. It's a bold step towards making Kathmandu a hub for adventure tourism, enhancing the city's appeal for both national and international tourists. The tower will also provide employment to around 200 individuals, fostering local economic growth.

In conclusion, the Skywalk Tower offers a thrilling and unforgettable experience for those seeking adventure, marking a milestone for Kathmandu's tourism industry.
