Supreme Court Interim Order Allows Open University LLB Students to Sit for Bar Exam
The Supreme Court has issued an interim order directing that students who completed their LLB from Open University be allowed to sit for the Bar Council license examination.
The Bar Council had previously issued a notice prohibiting Open University graduates from submitting the application form for the license exam.
The deadline to submit the application for the Bar license exam is Ashad 21. After being denied the opportunity to apply, the affected students filed a petition with the Supreme Court.
A joint bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Til Prasad Shrestha issued the order instructing authorities not to prevent these students from submitting the form or appearing in the examination.
“We had to go through a lot of hassle, but now we can finally submit the form,” said student Narendra Sijapati after the court's decision.
Earlier, students had raised their concerns with all relevant authorities, including the Vice-Chancellor of Open University and the Minister of Education, Raghuji Pant.
