Tribhuvan University’s 67th Anniversary: Long Service Medals Awarded to 185 Teachers and Employees
Tribhuvan University (TU) awarded Long Service Medals and certificates of honour to 185 individuals—142 teachers and 43 employees—who had completed 25 years of continuous service at the university.
The honours were distributed during TU’s 67th Annual Day in accordance with Section 45 of the Tribhuvan University Teachers and Employees Service Rules, 2050, under which such awards are presented each year on the university’s anniversary.
At the programme held at the Tribhuvan Memorial Building, TU Service Commission Chairperson Kishor Thapa presented the Long Service Medals, while Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa presented the certificates of honour.

Commitment to Developing TU as an Outstanding Academic Institution
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa expressed his commitment to transforming Tribhuvan University into an outstanding academic institution in the country.
He said the university would advance plans to provide quality and internationally accepted higher education in Nepal, strengthen good governance, promote decentralisation and autonomy, and utilise TU alumni as a sustainable resource for the university.
TU Service Commission Chairperson Kishor Thapa thanked the teachers and employees who had devoted a significant part of their lives to the university’s development. He also expressed the commission’s commitment to carrying out its responsibilities in a transparent, impartial, and unbiased manner.
Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Shankar Prasad Khanal said work was underway to implement the academic calendar, improve examinations and the publication of results, upgrade technology and laboratories, and revise curricula according to market needs.
He also stated that broader reforms were still required in TU’s governance system.
Acting Registrar Prof. Dr. Mahananda Chalise said the university’s true strength lay in its dedicated teachers and employees. He added that the rapid development of artificial intelligence in education and technology had created both opportunities and challenges for higher education.
