TU Students Complete Week-Long AI and Digital Communication Training in China
Students from the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Tribhuvan University (TU) have completed a week-long training and study tour on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital communication in Sichuan, China.
The program was organized under academic cooperation with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). Participants gained theoretical and practical knowledge on the use of AI in newsrooms, human-machine collaboration, digital content production, visual storytelling, and the management of false and misleading information.
During the visit, the students toured various institutions and facilities, including Sichuan Newsnet Group, Sichuan TV, Chengdu National Supercomputing Center, an AIGC workshop, a virtual production studio, and a robot park.
Participants
The program included students from Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, Lumbini Buddhist University, and Kathmandu University. The Nepali team was led by TU Assistant Professor Dr. Rishikesh Dahal.
A total of seven participants represented TU, including Central Department students Anusha Kafle, Diksha Rai, Monika Waiba, Laxman Giri, and Priyanka Sunar. Similarly, two students each participated from Pokhara University and Lumbini Buddhist University, while one student participated from Kathmandu University.
Academic Cooperation and Continuity
Dr. Dahal, the TU Assistant Professor who led the team, said that such academic cooperation would help Nepali students understand the changes taking place in communication technology. He said academic cooperation between Nepal and China would continue in the coming days. This is the second year of the “China-Nepal Youth Academic Exchange Program” conducted between TU and UESTC.
During the program, UESTC Professor Chang Xun said that various activities have been carried out to strengthen the friendly relationship between Nepal and China not only at the government-to-government level but also at the people-to-people level. He also said that academic cooperation would continue in the coming days.
Similarly, Prof. Dr. Kundan Aryal, Head of the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, said that as the cooperation with UESTC continues, more students will have opportunities to participate in the coming years.
