Kirtipur (Kathmandu), 2082 Magh 12 - Students of Tribhuvan University have demanded an end to the situation where they must come to Kathmandu from anywhere in the country to complete exam-related work.
According to Deepak Raj Joshi, Chairperson of the Student Union, students are being forced to travel to Kathmandu even for supplementary exams and minor administrative tasks because the university has not decentralized the examination system.
“Students from remote areas and those with weak physical conditions are more affected by this,” he said.
Joshi informed that, to draw attention to the demands, a sit-in protest has been started from today at the entrance gate of the Office of the Controller of Examinations.
Students say that, as a minimum measure, there should be an arrangement allowing them to take examinations within their own province.
“We repeatedly asked to run the university app, but it has not happened yet. Because the Office of the Controller of Examinations has not been able to become digital in line with the times, and due to a Kathmandu-centered structure, we are facing unnecessary hardship,” said Student Union member Pradip Karki.
He said that, although there has been some improvement compared to before, most results still come late.
