UGC QAA Peer Review Team Pre-Visit: United College Described as a ‘Very Good Institution’

Lalitpur, 4th October 2026: The Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) Peer Review Team (PRT) of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Nepal, completed a pre-visit to United College in Kumaripati, Lalitpur, on 30 September 2026.

Conducted as part of the college’s ongoing QAA process, the visit included an assessment in which the team described United College as a “very good institution” with the potential to become one of the “best of the best.”

The remarks were part of the peer review team’s pre-visit assessment and do not constitute UGC Nepal’s final accreditation decision.

Review Team and Its Assessment

The visiting team was led by Prof. Dr. Subas K.C., while Narayan Prasad Bhandari participated as the staff member of the team.

During the visit, Prof. Dr. K.C. recalled seeing the college motto, “Education. Service. Mankind.” as he entered the college hall. Referring to the motto, he said United College was providing education in the service of humankind.

He also praised the progress the college has made in maintaining quality during the 24 years since its establishment in 2002.

“Accreditation is done for aspiration, not for greed,” Prof. Dr. K.C. said.

PRT member Narayan Prasad Bhandari said United College had developed into a “brand.” He observed that quality has no face, shape or colour, but is instead reflected in how people experience and perceive an institution.

Summarising its assessment, the review team said, “United College is already a very good institution, and it is in the process of becoming even better.”

However, the assessment made during the pre-visit should not be interpreted as a final QAA accreditation decision.

College Responds to Peer Review Feedback

Dr. Kaviraj Bantawa, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at United College, thanked the review team for its candid feedback.

“Where there is heat and pressure, there is light,” Dr. Bantawa said, adding that the team’s guidance would help the college maintain its quality and continue making improvements.
