Voting Begins for Nepal House of Representatives Election

Voting has begun today in Nepal for the House of Representatives election. Since morning, voters across the country have been arriving at polling centers to exercise their voting rights.
The House of Representatives election is being held across 7 provinces and 77 districts for a total of 275 seats, including 165 first-past-the-post constituencies and 110 proportional representation seats. A total of 17,903,689 voters have been registered for this election.
Of the total voters, 8,663,358 are male, 9,240,131 are female, and 200 are other voters. Similarly, there are 186,142 temporary voters. For voting purposes, 10,967 polling sites, 23,112 polling centers, and 143 temporary polling sites have been designated across the country.
Candidates Under Both Electoral Systems
Under the first-past-the-post system, there are a total of 3,406 candidates, including 3,017 male candidates, 388 female candidates, and 1 other candidate. Of these, 2,263 are candidates from political parties and 1,143 are independent candidates.
Under the proportional representation system, there are a total of 3,135 candidates, including 1,363 male candidates and 1,772 female candidates.
Security Deployment
According to the statistics, 78,727 personnel from the Nepal Army and 75,727 personnel from Nepal Police will be mobilized for election security.
In addition, 34,576 personnel from APF Nepal and 1,921 personnel from the National Investigation Department will be deployed. The data also states that an additional 115,000 temporary police personnel will be assigned specifically for election security management.
