Major Progress in Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign Across the Nation

In a substantial public health initiative, the government's Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign has reached a significant milestone, successfully administering vaccines to children in all 413 local levels of 24 districts nationwide. The drive aims to bolster the immunity of the country's youth against these infectious diseases.

Campaign on the Move:

Efforts are currently underway in 180 local levels spanning 43 districts, with Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, the Head of the Child Health and Immunization Branch, announcing a commendable achievement of approximately 37.92 lakh children, which is about 66% of the target population, now vaccinated.

Geographical Hurdles:

Despite the campaign's broad success, it faced geographical setbacks, unable to operate in 122 local levels within eight Himalayan districts, where the onset of snowfall has impeded progress.

Government's Swift Response to Health Risks:

The vaccination campaign, which was swiftly launched in response to the risks associated with measles-rubella infection, has set an ambitious goal. It aims to immunize a total of 57.42 lakh children in 75 districts, a task excluding West Rukum and Jajarkot due to specific challenges.

Target Demographics:

The campaign has a special focus on the age group of nine months to 15 years across the majority of the districts. In 21 districts that have been identified as highly susceptible to measles-rubella infections and those bordering India, including the Kathmandu Valley, the campaign is zeroing in on children up to the age of five.

Mobilization of Resources:

To facilitate this health campaign, the government has established 48,798 vaccination centers. The effort is supported by a robust team comprising 49,937 healthcare workers and 59,906 volunteers, all mobilized to ensure the campaign's success.

The government's dedication to this health campaign reflects a strong commitment to public health and the wellbeing of its future generations. With continuous efforts, the campaign is expected to achieve its goal of creating a robust shield against measles and rubella, securing the health of children across the nation.
