CTEVT Calls Scholarships for Free Technical Education in 480 Seats: Special Opportunity for Students from 78 Remote Local Levels

The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Office of the Controller of Examinations, has called applications for free study in various pre-diploma and diploma/certificate level programs under the Special Scholarship Program for the academic year 2083/084. With the slogan “Let those who can afford leave it, let us connect those who cannot,” the Council has allocated a total of 480 seats for students from Dalit, Muslim, poor, marginalized communities and 78 local levels where technical education access has not reached.

According to the notice published on Tuesday, 2 Asar 2083, a total of 480 students will be selected, including 457 for diploma level and 23 for pre-diploma level. Students selected under this program will be able to study completely free of cost.

Facilities to be Provided to Examinees

Students recommended as main candidates through the admission selection process and admitted to educational institutions will receive the following facilities:

Subsistence allowance: Rs. 3,500 per month

Transportation expense: Rs. 1,500 per year

Uniform expense: Rs. 2,500 per year

Target Groups and Marginalized Communities

Only students who are permanent residents of poor, Dalit, Muslim, marginalized communities and 78 local levels where access to technical education has not reached may apply for this scholarship.

In the case of marginalized communities, the notice states that only the 22 indigenous nationalities listed by the Government of Nepal—Bankariya, Baram, Bote, Chepang, Danuwar, Dhanuk, Hayu, Jhangad, Kisan, Kusunda, Lepcha, Majhi, Meche, Kuswadiya, Raji, Raute, Satar, Singsa (Lhomi), Siyar, Surel, Thami and Thunam—and Haliya and Kamaiya will be included.

Required Minimum Qualifications

1. For Diploma/Certificate Level

Health programs, Nursing/Midwifery: Passed SLC or equivalent examination with Mathematics, English, and Science, securing at least second division, or 45 percent. Under the letter grading system, obtained a minimum GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0, C Grade.

Other programs, Engineering/Agriculture/Hotel and others: Passed SLC or equivalent examination, or obtained a minimum GPA of 1.6 under the letter grading system.

2. For Pre-Diploma Level

Passed SLC or equivalent examination. After implementation of the letter grading system, students who appeared in all subjects of SEE and received Non-Graded (NG) in the result may also participate.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected through a merit list based on the average Grade Point Average (GPA) obtained in the SEE/SLC examination. One additional mark will be given to students who passed from government or community schools, while the marks of candidates from institutional schools will be calculated by multiplying by 0.85.

78 Local Levels Without Access to Technical Education

Under this program, 17 local levels from Koshi Province, 17 from Madhesh Province, 9 from Bagmati Province, 10 from Gandaki Province, 5 from Lumbini Province, 7 from Karnali Province, and 13 from Sudurpashchim Province have been listed as areas without access. The detailed list has been made available on the Council’s website and in the public notice.
