In CTEVT, the most anticipated and important stage after examinations is the “result process.” It is not only the publication of marks; it is also a legal process that reflects a student’s three years of effort and helps determine future pathways.
To maintain fairness, confidentiality, and accuracy in result publication, the CTEVT Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) follows a specific Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

Sealed answer scripts are brought from examination centers across the country to the central office or designated collection centers.
Records of all bundles are maintained and verified against the number of examinees.
This process is used to protect confidentiality so that evaluators cannot identify whose copy they are checking.
The section containing the student’s symbol number is covered and replaced with a “code number.”
Evaluators see only the code number, which eliminates the possibility of marks being influenced by familiarity or pressure.
Subject Matter Experts and experienced teachers are assigned marking responsibilities at central or regional levels.
Evaluators check answer scripts according to CTEVT’s marking scheme (marking standards) and submit the recorded marks.
Obtained marks are entered into the computer system.
The code number is then matched back to the student’s original symbol number through decoding.
Internal assessment (internal/practical) marks and external board examination (theory) marks are combined.
Experienced tabulators verify carefully for errors. If marks in any subject appear unusual or unclear, the answer script itself is called again and re-checked.
After all preparation is completed, a meeting of the CTEVT Examination Control Committee is held.
After the committee decision and approval, official permission is granted to publish the results.
Results are made public through Gorkhapatra or national daily newspapers, the official website, and SMS.
Students can check results through the following three methods.
Go to www.ctevtexam.org.np.
Open the “Results” section and click “View Results.”
Enter your symbol number and date of birth (YYYY/MM/DD).
Ledger and marks details are displayed.
From CTEVT’s main page “Notice,” download the PDF file and view the symbol numbers of passed candidates.
Open the message box on your mobile.

CTEVT currently follows a letter grading system. Grade calculation based on total percentage is as follows:
90% or above: A+ (GPA 4.0) – Outstanding
80%–89.9%: A (GPA 3.6) – Excellent
70%–79.9%: B+ (GPA 3.2) – Very Good
60%–69.9%: B (GPA 2.8) – Good
50%–59.9%: C+ (GPA 2.4) – Satisfactory
40%–49.9%: C (GPA 2.0) – Acceptable (for diploma, 40% is the minimum pass mark)
As soon as results are published, many students see “Absent” or “Withheld.” The correction process is as follows.
Cause: Registration number mismatch or missing documents.
Solution: Register an application at Sanothimi to “clear the result,” attaching a photocopy of the registration card and a college recommendation.
Cause: Exam-hall attendance is not visible in the system.
Solution: If you appeared in the exam, take an attested copy of your attendance sheet from the relevant exam center and submit an application to OCE.
Within 15 days of result publication, fill the re-totaling form online or physically.
After paying the prescribed fee and submitting the application, the Council recalculates the marks and publishes a revised result within 5 to 10 days.
Result publication is not the final step. For employment and higher study, the following documents must be obtained.
This can be obtained only after passing all subjects of all years.
It shows consolidated marks for the entire study period.
This is issued for 6 months to 1 year before the original certificate is issued.
Usually, a few months after the academic session, the Council prints and dispatches it officially.
Application can be submitted only after the transcript is issued.
If you plan to go abroad, you must get these documents verified at CTEVT before taking them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Registration card safety: Since your ledger is based on the registration number, keep the registration card safely for three years.
Online copy vs official copy: A printed online result is only for temporary reference. For employment or official use, always use the official marksheet with seal and signature.
Deadline compliance: The re-totaling deadline is only 15 days. If you are late even by one day, the Council does not accept the application. Therefore, check your marks within the first week after the result is published.
In this way, CTEVT’s result process is transparent and systematic. If any problem arises, contacting your college or the provincial office promptly makes resolution easier.
