Internship Opportunity at Local Roads Bridge Programme

LOCAL ROADS BRIDGE PROGRAMME (LRBP)

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is providing Technical Assistance (TA) to the Government of Nepal (GoN) through the Department of Local Infrastructure Development (DoLI) under Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA) in the implementation of Local Roads Bridge Programme (LRBP) in Nepal. One of the objectives of LRBP is to enhance national and local capacities in bridge building, in addition to improving livelihoods of people by means of providing all-weather motorable access to services and opportunities.

On behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Local Roads Bridge Support Unit (LRBSU) provides the Technical Assistance to the Government of Nepal for implementation of LRBP.

To support in achieving the objectives above, LRBP offers an opportunity of traineeship to fresh female graduate engineers to gain knowledge, skills, and exposure in the field of motorable and trail bridge engineering. LRBP/AF-ITECO invites applications from interested and qualified Nepali Nationals for the following traineeship.

Trainee Engineer (FEMALE only) - 21 positions

Qualifications: Fresh Graduates completing Bachelors in Civil Engineering. No prior job experience required, having keen learning attitude and sense of responsibility, is open for relocation and sensitive towards the multicultural environment with an enthusiasm in field travels.

Duty Stations: State Bridge Support Offices of LRBSU with frequent travel to fields (at least 70% of the time), with the possibility of interchanges in duty stations as per project's requirements.

Purpose: Provide professional exposure to real work environment through intense coaching and guidance from experienced LRBSU staff.

Major Roles and Responsibilities

The Trainee Engineer will acquire in-depth knowledge, hands-on skills, and experience in motorable and trail bridge. She will be responsible to assist State Bridge Support Offices for planning, budgeting, survey, design, estimate, construction, monitoring and supervision, quality control and quality assurance of motorable and trail bridges.

Duration: 12 months for Trainee Engineer from the appointment date.
