The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has been working in Nepal as a bilateral agency, undertaking development cooperation programs on behalf of South Korean Government. KOICA is implementing various County Projects, dispatch of volunteer and Fellowship programs.

KOICA is looking for an experienced and qualified Nepali national to fill the following position-

Position: Program Officer

  • Contract Duration: One year from the appointment date (2 months Probation, one year contract would be continued after a performance review)
  • Duty Station: KOICA Nepal Office, Jwagal, Lalitpur (with frequent visits to project sites) Office Hours: Full-Time (09:00-17:00), Monday to Friday
  • Expected time of starting the duty: February 01, 2024

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for undertaking job of interpreter (Korean—Nepali, Korean—English, Nepali - English)as necessary during KOICA's official meetings, workshops and visits.
  • Responsible for any assigned administrative work related to Country Projects and the Global Program of the KOICA Nepal Office.
  • Carry out duties as assigned by the Country Director, Deputy Country Director, Assistant Country Director and other senior officials
  • Coordinating, managing, and networking during the adaptation training of the KOICA's KOV (Korea Overseas Volunteer) Program
  • Maintain cordial relations with Ministries, Volunteer Recipient organizations and related stakeholders as required
  • Support the Korean team (Project Management Committee) with needed translation work during official visits to Nepal.

Required qualification

  • Fluency in the Korean language (speaking, listening)- MANDATORY (writing skills in Korean language will be an advantage)
  • Bachelor's Degree in any discipline
  • Academic Background for Korean Language will be an advantage
  • Excellent Communication and Translation skills
  • Adequate/ relevant work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role will be an advantage
  • More than 2 years' work experience in the Project management or any other relevant areas will be an advantage
  • Proficient Nepali and English language skills (speaking and writing good reports)
  • Nepali Citizen with good health condition.
  • Multi-tasking and good interpersonal skills
  • Establish a high and reliable network with relevant stakeholders.
  • Appropriate computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
