Operational in Nepal since 2012, the current programme portfolio covers 32 municipalities, 4 thematic areas, 9 partner organizations, and various civil society organizations.

The overall goal in Nepal is to work hand in hand with civil society in Nepal to empower socially marginalized and economically poor citizens to reinforce their resilience and to ensure their right to adequate food and nutrition.

WHH announces applications from Nepali nationals for the position of Head of Programmes/ Compliance and Regulations Advisor based at Kathmandu. An ideal candidate should have a postgraduate degree in Agriculture or Nutrition or an equivalent degree related to the position with a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a similar position with an INGO.

Positions: Head of Programmes/ Compliance and Regulations Advisor

The position is to be filled from June 1, 2022, with an initial contract duration of two years. There are very good prospects for an extension. The employment location will be Kathmandu, Nepal.

As Head of Programmes you will support the Country Director in the development, implementation and monitoring of the multiannual country strategy while ensuring adherence to Welthungerhilfe’s quality standards. The Nepal strategy focuses on four thematic areas: Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security, Right to Food and Empowerment, Disaster Risk Reduction, and WASH.

Your responsibilities

Coordinate country programme and strategy development in close coordination with the Country Director
Responsible for quality assurance and ensuring compliance with Welthungerhilfe’s quality standards and donor regulations
Plan and develop new projects/programmes ensuring feasibility, sustainability and exit strategies and lead write-up of concept notes and donor proposals in close coordination with the Country Director, programme team and partners
Ensure implementation of MEAL standards in the country programme and further develop MEAL system
Further, develop partnership cooperation and ensure active collaboration with partner organizations
Support implementation of emergency preparedness plan and in-country emergency response as necessary
Development of Fundraising-Strategy
Represent Welthungerhilfe vis-à-vis other national, international, governmental and non-governmental bodies in agreement with Country Director

Your profile

A postgraduate degree in Agriculture or Nutrition or an equivalent degree related to the position
A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a similar position with an INGO; regional experience is an asset
Strong technical expertise in food and nutrition security
Sound experience in project cycle management, MEAL and programme coordination
Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel
Exceptional analytical and writing skills with a proven ability to secure complex donor funding
Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for travelling to Welthungerhilfe's project countries
Professional verbal and written proficiency in English, German language skills would be an advantage
