Zoological Society of London (ZSL) Vacancy for Livelihood Officer:

Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is an international conservation charity founded in 1826 as the world's first scientific zoological society. During its near 200 years history, it has had a firm legacy of conservation, research, and animal care in over 50 countries, helping it pursue its vision of a world where wildlife thrives. ZSL's purpose is to inspire, inform, and empower people so that they understand their roles in helping stop wild animals from going extinct. ZSL has been working in Nepal for the past 25 years. After having formally established a country office in 2014, ZSL has actively supported the Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFE) to achieve its conservation goals across Nepal through the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. ZSL Nepal Office is seeking applications from qualified, talented and result oriented Nepalese citizens for our Livelihood Officer position.

The post holder will be responsible for leading, planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting of ZSL's livelihood interventions under socio­economic theme in our working landscape, coordinating with government institutions, partner organizations, and local communities. The position is based in Kathmandu with frequent field visits to ZSL Nepal working sites.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Sociology or Natural Resource Economics or a similar subject. At least three years of experience with a good track record in the implementation of the livelihood and community development programmes.

This position requires good knowledge and pragmatic skills for socio-economic surveys and tools related to biodiversity conservation programmes, proven skills on socio-economic research, technical report writing, data management, interpretation skills, leadership qualities, strong inter-personal skills and proficiency in both written and spoken English and Nepali language is required.
