Education opens the mind and brightens life. Without it, life feels unclear and limited. From the very beginning of human history, people have recognized this truth. They’ve stayed aware, focused, and committed to learning in every possible way.

Our sages, scholars, and wise leaders in Nepal and worldwide understood how important learning is. They ensured that knowledge was passed on and shared. In Nepal, people also deeply respect education. That respect comes from the generations before us, who saw learning as more than personal progress—it was something everyone deserved.

Because of these values, even during strict or unfair rules, Nepali people continued following the path of learning. There’s an old saying: “Mahajano hyena gatah sa panthah”—the path walked by great people is the right one to follow. A clear example of this belief is the founding of Tri-Chandra College, one of Nepal’s earliest higher education institutions.

After Nepal took its first steps toward democracy, new hope for education grew. Modern schools and colleges started reaching rural areas. Then, in 2016–17 B.S., Tribhuvan University was established. This helped create a stronger foundation for higher learning in the country.

As time passed, people didn’t just want certificates—they wanted education that made a difference. To meet that need, the government introduced a new education plan. Despite limited resources, public universities encouraged private groups to start their programs.

Inspired individuals, community groups, and institutions took the initiative. They started colleges to give more students a chance to study. Private and public campuses have become essential to Nepal’s higher education journey.
