The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Social Sciences Education is a research-based postgraduate degree designed to prepare graduates for further study leading to a PhD. The MPhil Program in Social Sciences Education is primarily targeted at working individuals who are unable to join conventional face-to-face education systems but wish to pursue advanced-level courses in educational studies.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the MPhil in Social Sciences Education, graduates will be able to:

  • Exhibit a deeper understanding of theoretical, factual, conceptual, and philosophical aspects of education.
  • Utilize and apply research tools (quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed approaches) in educational research.

Eligibility

  • Candidates with a Master of Education (MEd), Master in Pedagogical Sciences, or Master in Educational Studies with a second division or CGPA 2.7 are eligible.
  • Candidates with a Master's degree in any discipline other than Education with a second division or CGPA 2.7 are also eligible but must complete an additional three-credit introductory course.

Admission Criteria

Entrance Examination Syllabus and Question Pattern:

  • Full Marks: 50
  • Time: 90 Minutes
  • Syllabus: Research Methodology in Master’s or equivalent Degree

Question Types:

  • Multiple Choice Questions: 20 Marks
  • Short Answer Questions: 10 Marks
  • Long-Answer Questions: 20 Marks
  • Medium: English
