COAS Ashokraj Sigdel Unveils Unity Journal Seventh Edition

Kathmandu, 2082 Falgun 4 - Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel has unveiled the seventh edition of the Unity Journal, a compilation of selected writings from the Nepal Army’s Open Strategic Essay Writing Competition–2082.

The journal was published on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri and the Nepal Army’s 263rd anniversary. The Nepal Army has been publishing the Unity Journal by including outstanding essays based on strategic topics of national, regional, and international importance.

In the Open Strategic Essay Writing Competition–2082, the first- and second-place writers were, respectively, Assistant Rathi Madhav Thapa and Dr. Geeta Thapaliya. Chief of Army Staff Sigdel presented cash prizes and letters of appreciation to the third-place winners Srijana Acharya and Assistant Rathi Arjun Basnet at a ceremony held at Jangi Adda.

On the same occasion, the Military Public Relations and Information Directorate stated that the Chief of Army Staff also presented letters of appreciation to members who served on the journal’s evaluation and editorial boards, as well as to the writers. At the program, Professor Dr. Dhruv Karki provided information on the importance of publishing the journal.

The Nepal Army has expressed confidence that such competitions help develop the habit of research and study on various dimensions of national security among the nation’s intellectual and educated community, thereby increasing patriotism and interest and reflection regarding national security.

The unveiling program was attended by staff officers, professors, a group of Rathi-level officers, subject experts and the editorial board, writers, and Nepal Army officers, non-commissioned personnel, and other ranks.
