Durgalal Sahitya Pratishthan: Six Works and ‘Jigu Garva’ Music Video Released
The music video of the song “Jigu Garva,” along with six books by Janakavi Durgalal Shrestha, was released. On Friday, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol launched Shrestha’s works: “Kapuya Kun,” “Nahligu Nugah Khan,” “Chuchun Gijimiji Dhvah,” “Kawa,” “Kaviya Bakham Kaviya Bhasam,” and “Antarbhav Thuya.” The music video for “Jigu Garva” directed by Bishwas Bajracharya was made public at the same event.
Discussion and Tributes
During a program organized by Durgalal Sahitya Pratishthan, Nepal Bhasha Academy Chancellor Malla K. Sundar held an interactive session with Language Commission member, journalist, and writer Suresh Kiran Manandhar, discussing writing trends and various facets of Janakavi Durgalal’s life. Malla noted he has been associated with Durgalal for about 50 years.
The 89-year-old Durgalal began his literary journey by reciting a poem at the Student Literature Council conference in 2006 BS. Malla said Durgalal proudly considers himself a servant of the Nepal Bhasha and is equally accomplished as a lyricist, playwright, and translator. He explained that earlier Durgalal’s poetic tendency included passion, anger, and sharpness; later, with political consciousness, themes of equality, leftist orientation, and rebellion against social discrimination appeared, and now he has become more spiritual.
Attendance and Appreciation
Approximately one and a half hundred participants—writers, journalists, linguists, and language workers—attended. Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol said she has learned much from Durgalal Shrestha and praised the organizer, Durgalal Sahitya Pratishthan, for hosting such a creative literary program that helps people understand his work.
