
Devkota Birth Anniversary Marks Release of Dual Poetry Collections
An event was held in Thankot (Thakwa:) to launch two poetry collections by 86-year-old poet and literary figure Shiv Prasad Shrestha (Pamay). The collections include Aama Ko Swar in Nepali and Hyaungu Nibahaya Ja in Nepal Bhasa (mother tongue).
Aama Ko Swar was published by his son Rabindra Prasad Shrestha, while Hyaungu Nibahaya Ja was published by his daughter-in-law Padma Khayargoli.
Remarks from Distinguished Guests
Chief guest, senior literary scholar and critic Dr. Yogendra Pradhan, remarked that poet Shrestha’s works vividly portray themes of nationalism, mother tongue, patriotism, women’s emotions, religiosity, historical and contemporary issues. He also offered a literary review of both collections.
Similarly, Dr. Rajanlal Joshi, Associate Professor at the Central Department of Nepal Bhasa, noted that Shrestha’s Nepal Bhasa poems will significantly contribute to the literary appreciation of both Nepali and Nepal Bhasa readers.
Acknowledgments from Public Figures
Bagmati Province Minister for Land Management, Industry, Administration, and Commerce, Bindu Shrestha, stated that even at an age when most people rest, poet Shrestha continues to work tirelessly, publishing two valuable literary works. She described him as a multi-talented guardian figure of Thankot.
Chandragiri Municipality Mayor Ghanshyam Giri expressed that poet Shiv Prasad Shrestha is an honorable personality representing the entire Chandragiri region.
Nepal Bhasa poet and creator Rajendra Maharjan discussed the technical aspects and subject selection of the Nepal Bhasa poetry collection, emphasizing its literary and linguistic importance.
