World Food Safety Day on June 7

World Food Safety Day celebrate on June 7. In the year 2018, it was announced by the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate World Food Safety Day and since then this day has been organized every year on 7 June. Recently, food security has become increasingly challenging around the world.

The essence of 'food security is everyone's responsibility is to ensure that everything from food production land to our plate is safe, without harming our health. The campaign was launched by the United Nations. The United Nations believes that individuals and organizations at various levels will join forces to fight this issue.

In fact, food-borne diseases affect 600 million people each year, and it is imperative to fight them. Because it is not only a matter of health problem, it is also a matter related to the goal of sustainable development. It is equally important to promote global food security. Foodborne illness is caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemicals that enter the body through contaminated food or water. According to a statistic, about 420,000 people die every year due to contaminated food.

The issue of food security has been highlighted in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), not only the government but everyone in the cycle of food production, distribution, trade, and consumption should be sensitive for food security.

"All of these deaths due to contaminated food can be completely prevented," said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Through World Food Security Day, the WHO aims to reduce the burden of foodborne illness. The WHO believes that the food security campaign cannot be completed unless governments, organizations, and the people of the world join the campaign.

Every day people consume various food items. Food safety ensures that every stage of the food chain, from food to its production, processing, storage, distribution, preparation, is safe for people's health. With this objective, every year World Food Safety Day is being celebrated to make people aware. Food security determines that every person living on the earth should get a good diet so that no one's health is affected, all can lead a healthy life. Even today, in many countries, people get food whose quality is not up to the mark. This diet makes people sick which is becoming a matter of concern for the whole world.
