About Bhanu Municipality

Bhanu Municipality (भानु नगरपालिका, तनहुँ) was established on 19 September 2015 (2072 BS) as a local government of Nepal. The headquarters of this Nagarpalika is located in Bhanu, Gorkha district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Bhanu is an urban municipality and also known as Nagarpalika in the Nepali Language. Famous Nepali poet Bhanubhakta Acharya was born in this Municipality. 

Bhanu Municipality is surrounded by Gorkha and Lamjung districts on the East, Byas Municipality on the West, Lamjung district on the North and Bandipur Rural Municipality and Gorkha District on the South. 

The total area of this Municipality is 184 km2  (71 sq mi) and the total population of the municipality is according to 2011 (2068 BS) Nepal census is 46179. The density of this municipality is 250/km(650/sq mi). This municipality is divided into 13 wards. The elevation of this municipality is 228 to 8163 meters altitude from sea level.

Bhanu, Barbhanjyang, Rupakot, Tanahunsur, Mirlung, Risti, Basantapur and Chok Chisapani Village Development committees (VDCs) were incorporated to form Bhanu Municipality. This urban Municipality came into existence in 2015 (2072 BS).
