218 Applications Under Review for Vice Chancellor Posts at Eight Universities
Kathmandu. The Selection and Recommendation Committee has begun studying applications submitted by 218 candidates for the vacant posts of vice chancellor at eight universities.
The Selection and Recommendation Committee at the Ministry of Education and Sports had issued a notice on Baisakh 25, calling on interested and eligible candidates to submit applications within 10 days for the appointment of vice chancellors.
According to the notice, the highest number of applications was submitted for the post of vice chancellor at Tribhuvan University, with 50 candidates applying. According to the Ministry, the number of applications received for the universities is as follows:
- Tribhuvan University: 50 candidates
- Purbanchal University: 38 candidates
- Pokhara University: 38 candidates
- Far Western University: 19 candidates
- Mid-West University: 20 candidates
- Lumbini Buddhist University: 11 candidates
- Agriculture and Forestry University: 15 candidates
- Rajarshi Janak University: 27 candidates
The committee is preparing to study and examine the applicants’ documents, publish the list of approved candidates, and begin the selection process.
The “Integrated Procedure Related to the Selection and Recommendation of Vice Chancellors of Various Universities, 2083” was approved on Baisakh 24, 2083. The process for new appointments began after officials of various universities were removed from office under the special ordinance on the removal of officials of public bodies, issued by the President on the recommendation of the Government of Nepal.
A committee has been formed for the selection process, including Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports Chudamani Poudel, and relevant experts for the respective universities.
