3,198 Students Graded from Kathmandu Metropolitan Community Schools in SEE 2082

Kathmandu — In the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2082, a total of 3,198 students from community schools within Kathmandu Metropolitan City were graded. According to the metropolitan city, this accounts for 76.75 percent of the students who appeared in the examination.

This year, a total of 4,167 students from 60 community schools in the metropolitan area participated in the examination. Among them, Kendriya Bahira Secondary School, Shram Rastriya Secondary School, Bal Byabasayi Secondary School, and Bal Sewa Secondary School achieved 100 percent results.

This year, 28 students secured a 4 GPA. Last year, 17 students had secured a 4 GPA. The school-wise details of students securing a 4 GPA are as follows:

• Gyanodaya Secondary School: 21 students

• Tarun Secondary School: 1 student

• Shivapuri Secondary School: 1 student

• Vishwa Niketan Secondary School: 3 students

• Ratna Rajya Secondary School: 2 students

Last year, out of 4,085 examinees, 3,109 students, or 76.08 percent, were graded. This year, 82 more students participated in the examination, while the grading rate increased by 0.67 percentage points.

This year’s grade group-wise results are as follows:

• 3.6 to 4 GPA: 543 students

• 3.2 to 3.6 GPA: 1,004 students

• 2.8 to 3.2 GPA: 1,153 students

• 2.4 to 2.8 GPA: 469 students

• 2.0 to 2.4 GPA: 14 students

• Non-graded: 969 students

Last year, the number of students in the same categories was 774, 1,156, 902, 246, and 14, respectively. Last year, 976 students were non-graded, while this year 969 students were non-graded. According to the metropolitan city’s details, although the number of students securing higher GPAs declined this year, the number of students in the middle-grade categories increased.

According to Namraj Dhakal, Education Officer at the Education Department, schools that have shown improvement will be encouraged after a detailed analysis of the results. He said schools with consistently weak results will be kept under special monitoring.

Reasons for Result Improvement and Metropolitan City’s Efforts

According to the Education Department, improvements in the academic quality of schools, students’ interest in learning, teachers’ active involvement, and result improvement programs have had a positive impact.

According to Education Officer Keshav Gyawali, the “Book-Free Friday” program has made an important contribution to students’ learning. Under this program, curriculum, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities were integrated to provide multidimensional learning practices.

The metropolitan city has been conducting teacher training, expanding smart classes, using digital teaching materials, and implementing special learning improvement programs. According to Education Officer Indra Prasad Dahal, managerial training for principals, subject-wise training for teachers, digital teaching practices, and learning improvement programs have been conducted regularly.
