Discussion Held on the Future of Legal Studies in Nepal
A discussion was held among judicial experts, legal professionals, educators, and students regarding the future of legal education in Nepal.
District Judge Maniram Nyaupane emphasized the significance of legal knowledge in practical life. He argued that in both legal practice and judicial services, not only formal education but also practical application and understanding of real-life situations are essential.
He stated that becoming a responsible citizen and a responsible legal professional is a prerequisite to upholding justice in society.
Views from Legal and Academic Experts
Speaking at the event organized by Mount View Institute of Law and Technology (Tech Law College), Prof. Dr. Narendra Katwal, Dean of Humanities and Law Faculty at Rajarshi Janak University, stated that Nepal’s legal sector must become technology-friendly, effective, and inclusive.
Another speaker, Dr. Taranath Ghimire, highlighted the deep connection between humanities and law. He noted that while humanities help in understanding human life, society, and culture, legal education enables practical application of those understandings. He emphasized that the integration of both fields supports building a just, human-centered, and inclusive society.
Academic Approach and Practical Orientation
Assistant Dean Samip Ghimire mentioned that Rajarshi Janak University has prioritized practice-oriented education, aligning with the framework set by Nepal’s Bar Council.
Gopikrishna Nyaupane, Principal of Mount View College, noted that a high-quality academic environment and adequate facilities inspire students to pursue their studies with confidence and ease.
