
School Health Curriculum Review Report Submitted
A review report prepared for revising the school-level health education curriculum to make it scientific, effective, and timely has been handed over to the Curriculum Development Centre.
The report was formally submitted on Tuesday at the Ministry of Health and Population in the presence of Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel, who handed it over to the Director General of the Curriculum Development Centre, Yuvraj Paudel.
The report was prepared by the National Health Education, Information, and Communication Centre under the Ministry of Health.
Key Recommendations of the Report
The report provides a detailed review of the existing health curriculum from grade 1 to grade 12. It recommends improvements that align with changing lifestyles, health challenges, and national health policies.
Minister Paudel’s Remarks
Speaking at the program, Minister Paudel highlighted that school education is the foundation for developing healthy lifestyle habits among citizens. He expressed confidence that coordination between the Ministries of Health and Education would create long-term positive impacts.
He said, “Health is not only about treatment in hospitals, it is a consciousness that begins in every home and school. If we provide children with correct health information from an early age, they can become change agents for the well-being of themselves, their families, and society as a whole.”
Minister Paudel further expressed that this coordination with the Ministry of Education would significantly contribute to the national goal of building healthy and responsible citizens.
Curriculum Development Centre Response
Receiving the report, Director General Yuvraj Paudel of the Curriculum Development Centre praised the initiative of the Ministry of Health. He said, “Suggestions received directly from the concerned ministry on such a technical and sensitive subject as health are extremely valuable for us.”
Process of Report Preparation
According to Keshavraj Pandit, Director of the National Health Education, Information, and Communication Centre, suggestions were collected from various agencies of the Health and Education Ministries, universities, the Federation of Parents, UNICEF and other United Nations agencies, as well as national and international non-governmental organizations during the preparation of the report.
