Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan Develops Tharu Language Curriculum for Grade Three
Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan has developed a Tharu language curriculum for Grade 3 students. The textbook was written with support from the Tharu Kalyankari Sabha, Dang. The contributing writers were teachers Madhav Chaudhary, Bishnuraj Chaudhary, Bikash Chaudhary, Laxmiman Chaudhary, and Purna Chaudhary.
Following the decision to recognize Tharu as an official working language, Ghorahi began teaching the Tharu language from Grade 1 in Beluwa Banjhadi three years ago. Continuing this initiative, the municipality has now prepared the curriculum for Grade 3.
The Grade 3 textbook, jointly prepared by the Tharu Kalyankari Sabha Dang and the Tharu Curriculum Writing Committee, was handed over to Mayor Narulal Chaudhary of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan.
During the handover event, Mayor Narulal Chaudhary expressed confidence that Tharu-language instruction will help empower children from the Tharu community.
Deputy Mayor Huma DC remarked that teaching in the Tharu language is a positive development.
The event was attended by the central secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Sabin Priyasan, ward chairpersons from various wards, and representatives of related organizations.
At the event, Madhav Chaudhary, coordinator of the textbook writing team, provided an overview of the textbook's content and development process.
