Around 90,000 Students to Graduate from Tribhuvan University in 2082
Tribhuvan University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khagendra KC, has announced that approximately 90,000 students will graduate in the year 2082—marking the highest number of graduates in the university’s history.
Speaking at the university’s 66th anniversary celebration, he shared, “We are preparing the grace list. Around 90,000 students will graduate this year. It is a significantly large number. Many universities in the world do not have such student numbers.”
Despite the achievement, Vice Chancellor KC admitted that the university has not yet been able to fully meet the expectations of its students. However, he claimed that progress has been made over the past year.
“There has been improvement in the examination process. Previously, it took up to one and a half years to publish results. Now we are able to release them within three months,” he said. “Completing teaching on time, finishing the syllabus, conducting exams, and publishing results promptly is not unusual—but in our context, it is a significant achievement. That’s why we expect nearly 90,000 graduates this year.”
Registrar Kedar Prasad Rijal stressed the need for infrastructure improvements at the country’s largest university.
“Tribhuvan University is serving nearly 80 percent of the nation's students, though with difficulty. It remains the top choice for many,” said Rijal. “More than 400 programs are running. It has produced presidents and prime ministers. Its graduates have reached across the globe. But we face major challenges with infrastructure.”
According to Vice Chancellor KC, Tribhuvan University is currently spread across 157 units.
“There are 64 constituent campuses, 44 central departments, research centers, and dean’s offices, forming a total of 157 units. Additionally, more than 1,000 community and private colleges are affiliated. The university has a presence in all 77 districts,” he said.
