Low-Cost Technical Education at Jajarkot Polytechnic Institute Brings Enthusiasm Among Rural Students
Students and parents in rural areas have become enthusiastic after Jajarkot Polytechnic Institute, located at Kafalchaur, Bheri Municipality–5, Jajarkot, began offering quality technical education at minimum fees. It is expected to end the situation in which students had to stop their studies after SEE due to financial hardship and travel to major cities for technical education.
As a constituent and government institution of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), the institute has arranged to teach various three-year diploma-level technical subjects at highly subsidized fees. Compared with private colleges that charge high fees, the fees here are much lower, providing major relief to students from disadvantaged communities.
Available Programs and Fees
The subjects available at the institute and their prescribed minimum fees are as follows:

Diploma in Pharmacy: Rs. 50,000

Diploma in Civil Engineering: Rs. 36,000

Diploma in Forestry: Rs. 30,000
With the opportunity to study technical education in their own area at low fees, enthusiasm has also increased among students from Jajarkot and neighboring districts including Rukum, Salyan, Dailekh, and Dolpa. Earlier, students had to travel to cities such as Surkhet, Nepalgunj, and Kathmandu to study technical education. According to the institute, students from other districts are also currently studying there.
Local resident Manoj BK of Kolchaur, Bheri Municipality–1, said the opportunity to study locally at affordable fees is a major opportunity for his children and for low-income disadvantaged communities.
Institute Chief Ishwarichandra Devkota said the institute is being operated with the goal of providing technical education at one of the lowest fee levels in the country. According to him, continuous work is being carried out to make the institute more organized, quality-oriented, and student-friendly.
New admissions have opened at the institute. Since the number of seats is limited, the institute has urged interested students to apply on time.
