Master Plan Approved to Develop Bhanubhakta’s Ramgha
The campaign to develop Ramgha, the birthplace of Nepal’s leading literary figure and National Luminary, Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya, into a globally recognized literary tourism destination has begun to take concrete shape.
With the approval of the master plan of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the “Bhanua Sahitya Park,” hopes have risen that this historic area will undergo significant transformation.
Estimated Cost and Budget Allocation
Bhanau Municipality has stated that the master plan is estimated to cost around NPR 1 billion.
Under this master plan, NPR 20 crore has already been allocated in the current fiscal year by the federal Ministry of Urban Development.
Road Upgrade Planned Using the Allocated Budget
Using this budget, the motorable road from Shikhar Kateri, the birthplace area of Bhanubhakta, up to Ramgha Danda will be upgraded and blacktopped.
Main Attraction of the Park
As a key attraction of the park, a massive statue of Adikavi Bhanubhakta, standing 54 feet tall, will be constructed.
It is expected to further elevate Ramgha’s identity.
Presidential Interest and Work Completed So Far
President Ramchandra Paudel has shown special interest and has been actively involved in advancing the construction of the Bhanua Sahitya Park.
Following continuous discussions on master plan preparation, land acquisition, and budget management, a retaining wall was constructed at Ramgha Danda and land acquisition work was completed in the last fiscal year.
So far, around 400 ropani of land has been secured for this project.
Plan to Advance as a National Pride Project
Chairperson of the Adikavi Bhanubhakta Birthplace Development Committee, Ramkumar Shrestha, said, “We are working to move this project forward as a project of national pride. In the next few days, it will be recommended to the Ministry of Finance as a multi-year plan through the President.”
The park is expected to honor Bhanubhakta’s contribution of translating the Ramayana into Nepali and uniting the general Nepali public through a shared linguistic thread.
Vision for a Literary Pilgrimage Site
General Secretary of the Bhanua Sahitya Park Development Committee, Dr. Brataraj Acharya, said, “Our decades-old dream is finally in the process of being realized. This park will not be only a physical structure; it will become a pilgrimage site for the Nepali language and literature. It will serve as a milestone in promoting Nepal’s literary tourism.”
Acharya believes this master plan will play an important role in bringing the birthplace of Adikavi Bhanubhakta out of obscurity and safeguarding the pride of being the origin place of the Nepali language.
