Rukmani Raj Shiwakoti Memorial Journalism Award

The Rukmaniraj Shiwakoti Memorial Fund has posthumously conferred the “Rukmani Raj Shiwakoti Memorial Journalism Award” on writer and journalist Bijay Chalise. Chalise was honoured at a felicitation and book-launch programme jointly organised on Sunday by the Rukmani Raj Shiwakoti Memorial Fund and the Gyanagun Literary Foundation.

Former minister C.P. Mainali and former vice-chancellor of the Nepal Academy Ganga Upreti honoured journalist Chalise’s younger son Ashok Chalise. On the occasion of the fourth memorial day of Rukmani Raj Shiwakoti, six individuals, including Chalise, who have contributed to literature, were honoured.

Writer Dr Dayaram Shrestha was honoured with the “Rukmani Raj Shiwakoti Memorial Creator Honour.” Likewise, former judge Bhimendra Bahadur Karki received the Narayanraj Kharel Memorial Honour; Dr Govinda Raj Bhattarai and Mahesh Prasai received the Gyanagun Creator Honour; and Dr Mukesh Chalise was honoured by Vigyan Ka Kura Srashta. The Nilam Prakash Mainali Memorial Education Service Honour was received by the Narayani Memorial Foundation.

Founding chairperson of the Rukmani Raj Shiwakoti Memorial Fund, Sheshraj Shivakoti, said that he had established the award in memory of his father and stated that he was pleased to have been able to honour various personalities and publish books.

At the programme, the following books were launched:

  • “Dedicated Justice Aravindnath Acharya: Perspective and Evaluation”

  • “Justice Prakash Wasti: Perspective and Evaluation”

  • “Justice Hargovind Singh Pradhan: Perspective and Evaluation”
