Student Startup Chiyaa Chapaau Draws Crowds in Pokhara

BED Students Launch 'Chiyaa Chapaau' at Prithvi Narayan Campus Gate, Pokhara

At the heart of Pokhara, right by the Prithvi Narayan Campus gate, something unusual is drawing attention—“Chiyaa Chapaau”, a fresh and flavorful tea startup that’s quickly become a local favorite. But what makes it even more special? It’s run by four young students from Pokhara University.

Stuti Thapa, Manju Tiwari, Yanika Bhattarai, and Namrata Paudel are all in their eighth semester of the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship Development (BED) program. What started as a class project in their seventh semester has now grown into a real, working business. They researched the tea market and took things one step further—offering tea in edible cups, blending sustainability with innovation.

From the Classroom to Real-Life Business

After a short TikTok clip caught people’s attention, Chiyaa Chapaau became a local hit. Now, every day, hundreds of people stop by—not just for a cup of tea, but for the experience. It’s tasty, different, and eco-friendly.

In a time when many young people are looking abroad for opportunities, this effort stands out. These students dared to build something of their own, right here at home, while still in college. It’s a real-life example of what happens when education goes beyond the classroom and turns into action.

More Than Just a Cup of Tea

Chiyaa Chapaau isn't only about tea. It's about ideas, confidence, and learning by doing. The startup reflects everything the BED program hopes to teach—thinking creatively, applying knowledge, and building something meaningful.

It’s a simple idea with a powerful message: you don’t need to wait until graduation to start something that matters.

What Is the BED Program?

The Bachelor of Entrepreneurship Development (BED) is a one-of-a-kind program introduced by Pokhara University on Falgun 21, 2077 BS. It’s the first undergraduate course in Nepal focused entirely on developing entrepreneurial skills.
