TU Directs All Constituent Campuses to Remove Party-Affiliated Student Organization Structures
The Student Welfare and Sports Directorate under the Office of the Rector of Tribhuvan University has directed all constituent campuses of TU to remove the structures of party-affiliated student organizations. The Directorate issued a circular to all campus chiefs on Asar 15, 2083 BS, giving the instruction.
TU has taken this step on the basis of letters from the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education and Sports. The circular states that the decision was made to address problems including party interference in the education sector, the failure to include students’ genuine voices, and the decline in educational quality.
Deadline to Remove Structures Within 60 Days and Form a New Mechanism Within 90 Days
As per point (b) mentioned in the letter of the University Grants Commission dated 2083/03/10 and the letter of the Ministry dated 2083/03/09, the Directorate has instructed campuses to carry out the following tasks:
Within 60 days: Remove the structures of party-affiliated student organizations from school/university premises.
Within 90 days: Develop a “Student Council/Voice of Student” mechanism for student representation.
The letter, signed by Deputy Instructor Sandesh Kumar Regmi of the Directorate, has requested all constituent campuses to act accordingly and inform the Directorate as soon as possible. Copies of the circular have also been sent to the offices of the Vice-Chancellor, Rector, and Registrar of TU.
