TU Issues 35-Day Notice on CMJ University Degrees and Equivalence Verification
Kirtipur, Kathmandu: The Curriculum Development Centre under the Office of the Rector, Tribhuvan University, has published a public notice on 2083/01/24 regarding the investigation of academic degrees obtained from CMJ University, Jorabat, Meghalaya, India, and the equivalence granted on the basis of those degrees.
According to the notice, the investigation is based on the public notice issued by the Education Department of the Government of Meghalaya State, India, on August 20, 2015, regarding the dissolution of CMJ University, and the decision of the Supreme Court of India dated February 13, 2015.
Based on these decisions, academic degrees from 2014 and thereafter have been considered invalid. The notice also states that academic degrees issued before 2014 were also found to have been awarded irregularly, and only those investigated and verified at the state level will be recognized.
In this context, the Curriculum Development Centre has stated that the equivalence certificates of 16 individuals who received equivalence letters from the Centre are under investigation.
They have been instructed to submit a written application to the Centre within 35 days from the date of publication of this notice, along with the original copy of the equivalence letter they received, verification from the Education Department of the Government of Meghalaya State, and any other supporting evidence confirming the validity of the degree.
The notice states that if the required documents and evidence are not submitted within the specified period, action will be taken in accordance with Regulation 21 of the Tribhuvan University Degree Recognition and Equivalence Regulations, 2082.
