1. Head of Programme

Job Title: Head of Programme

Organization: AWO International

Job Location: Country Office Kathmandu, Nepal with frequent field trips

Portfolio: Development Work & Humanitarian and Recovery Aid

Reporting to: Head Representative

Functional Relationships

The Head of Programme (HoP) reports to the Head Representative (HR). The position serves on the Senior Management Team level of the Country Office. Under the supervision of the HR, the HoP tasks include portfolio development in AW05 strategic areas, monitoring and evaluation as well as fundraising.

Overall responsibilities

  • Coordinate the multi-annual country programme and strategy development in close coordination with the HR
  • Responsible for quality assurance and ensuring compliance with AWOs quality standards and donor regulations
  • Plan and develop new projects/programmes ensuring feasibility, sustainability and exit strategies and lead write-up of concept notes and donor proposals in close coordination with the HR, programme/finance team and partners
  • Ensure the development and implementation of MEAL standards in the country programme, further develop the MEAL system and support AWOs partner organisations in MEAL related tasks
  • Ensure timely reporting of the partner organisations to the Country Office as well as timely submission of proposals and reports to AWO Head Quarter
  • Coordinates closely with the finance department in all relevant programmatic/financial areas
  • Further, develop partnership cooperation and ensure active collaboration with and capacity building of AWOs partner organizations
  • Supervise and capacitate programme staff on project cycle management, MEAL and fundraising
  • Represent AWOs vis-a-vis other national, international, governmental and non- governmental bodies as well as relief and development organisations and participate in coordination committees with other relevant organisations in agreement and coordination with HR

Your profile

  • A postgraduate degree in international relations and/or development & humanitarian aid
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a similar position with an INGO; regional experience is an asset
  • Strong technical expertise in safe migration, human trafficking (TIP), food and nutrition security, climate change, disaster risk reduction, humanitarian aid, etc.
  • Sound experience in project cycle management, MEAL and programme coordination
  • Exceptional analytical and writing skills in English and Nepali; German would be an asset
  • Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
  • A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel

2. Head of Finance and Administration

Job Title: Head of Finance and Administration

Organization: AWO International

Job Location: Country Office Kathmandu, Nepal with frequent field trips

Portfolio: Development Work & Humanitarian and Recovery Aid

Reporting to: Head Representative

Functional Relationships

The Head of Finance and Administration (HoFA) reports to the Head Representative (HR). The position serves on the Senior Management Team of the Country Office. Under the supervision of the HR, the HoFA is responsible for all financial and administrative processes and will implement financial management standards in the programmes and projects efficiently and promptly, thereby making a significant contribution towards the success of the programme work. In general, you will ensure that the Country Programme including the various projects is financially managed in accordance with relevant donor and AWOs internal rules and regulations.

Overall responsibilities:

  • Maintain the programme wide financial management system of Awo International
  • Ensure sound budget planning when project proposals are being drafted
  • Control and supervise liquidity planning of the projects and internal fund requests
  • Monitor and ensure the proper planning of financial and other resources
  • Recruiting, account assignment and induction of new staff (in the field of financial / project administration)
  • Supervising the government liaison officer and the finance/admin staff
  • Provide input to proposals and / or develop budgets for proposals in close coordination with the programme department and the HR
  • Monitor and ensure the accurate and prompt drawing up of internal and external financial reports in accordance with the appropriate guidelines
  • Conduct training sessions in the field offices to ensure financial and administrative compliance standards are met and provide guidance for AWOs finance/admin staff and project partners in line with AWOs rules and regulations
  • Check partner agreements taking into account the capacity of the partners and the donor regulations
  • Ensure reporting deadlines are met
  • Coordinate closely with the programme department in all relevant financial/programmatic areas

Your Profile:

  • A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field e.g. finance, business administration and accounting A minimum of 5 years professional experience working on the same or equivalent position in INGOs Several years of professional experience in the administration of co-financed projects for international (aid) organizations
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills, including the ability to work under pressure
  • A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions.
  • An excellent knowledge of English and Nepali (spoken and written), German is an asset
