Notification of Staffing Requirements: Community Facilitator Position

Kalika Swavalamban Social Center (KSSC Nepal) and Rural Welfare and Agricultural Reform Group for Development (Forward Nepal) are jointly conducting a project titled "Civil Society Organizations as promoters of improved food systems and equal livelihood opportunities" with the financial support of Welt Hunger Hilfe Germany (WHH/BMZ).

Project Area The project is not being implemented in the Yasodhara, Mayadevi, and Suddhodhan villages of Kapilbastu district.

Job Opening: Community Facilitator

  • Number of positions: 11
  • Working area: Yasodhara, Mayadevi, and Suddhodhan villages in Kapilbastu.

Minimum Qualifications Required

To apply for the position of Community Facilitator, interested Nepali citizens must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Education:

    • Must have passed at least Proficiency Certificate level or equivalent from a recognized educational institution.
    • Technical qualifications:
      • Option 1: Technical (I.Sc.Ag.) or Agriculture/Animal Technology (CTEVT) Junior Technician (JT).
      • Option 2: Passed 18 months CTEVT or possess practical experience and the ability to teach farmers.
  2. Preference will be given to those who have passed Test Level-1 NSTB.

  3. Work Experience:

    • At least 3 years of working experience in community mobilization, food security, nutrition, drinking water, and sanitation.

Responsibilities of Community Facilitator

The selected Community Facilitators will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Community Mobilization:

    • Mobilize the community in the areas of food security, nutrition, drinking water, and sanitation as per the need in respective municipalities.
    • Facilitate the formation and operation of farmer groups.
    • Provide necessary training to farmer groups on relevant issues.
    • Create awareness at the community level regarding nutrition, safety, drinking water, and sanitation.
  2. Advocacy and Coordination:

    • Advocate for the rights and interests of the beneficiary groups through coordination and cooperation with local government and stakeholders.
    • Regularly monitor and impart knowledge/skills to the farmers involved in the project.
    • Assist other project staff in program monitoring.
    • Facilitate the solving of technical problems of farmer groups by contacting subject matter experts.
  3. Additional Skills:

    • Possess program management skills in the health and nutrition sector.
    • Able to speak and write the local language.
    • Conduct training, seminars, and interaction programs.
    • Assist farmers in creating business plans and provide access to financial institutions as needed.
    • Prepare monthly progress reports for the organization to which they are appointed.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Community Facilitator position will be conducted in a fair and inclusive manner. The following steps will be followed:

  1. Preliminary Shortlisting:

    • All applications will be reviewed, and a preliminary shortlisting will be done based on the qualifications and requirements mentioned in the job advertisement.
    • Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will proceed to the next stage.
  2. Written Exam:

    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam.
    • The exam will assess their knowledge and understanding of community mobilization, food security, nutrition, drinking water, sanitation, and related topics.
    • The exam may include multiple-choice questions, essay-type questions, or practical exercises to evaluate their skills and competencies.
  3. Interview:

    • Candidates who perform well in the written exam will be invited for an interview.
    • The interview panel will consist of representatives from Kalika Swavalamban Social Center (KSSC Nepal) and Rural Welfare and Agricultural Reform Group for Development (Forward Nepal).
    • The interview will focus on assessing the candidates' experience, suitability for the role, problem-solving abilities, and their alignment with the project's goals and values.
    • Special attention will be given to promoting diversity and inclusion by prioritizing women, Dalits, tribals, disabled individuals, intersex individuals, and minorities.
  4. Final Selection:

    • After the interview process, the selection committee will evaluate the performance of each candidate.
    • The final selection will be based on merit, considering the candidates' qualifications, experience, performance in the written exam, and interview.
    • The selected candidates will be notified individually and offered the Community Facilitator positions.
