Padhnako Lagi Kotha (PIK), the sole official Implementing Partner of Room to Read (RtR), is inviting applications from interested Nepali citizens for the position of Associate, People Operations (Kathmandu-based).

About Padhnako Lagi Kotha (PLK)

Padhnako Lagi Kotha (PLK) was established in 2002 with a mission to provide better educational opportunities in government-funded community schools of Nepal by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. PLK has developed a holistic, multi-pronged approach to help children in Nepal gain the lifelong gift of education.

To date, PLK has partnered with government schools to establish over 4,742 school libraries to encourage a reading habit in primary school children, published 388 children's books for quality materials to read, constructed over 1,249 schools and renovated 46 schools, and supported the creation of an enabling learning environment through a comprehensive Reading & Writing Instruction program in 1,338 primary classrooms. Through the Girls Education Program, PLK has supported over 10,571 girls from underprivileged families to complete secondary education and beyond by providing material, academic, and life skills education support.

Position Overview:

The Associate, People Operations is required to assist in the efficient management of the People Operations department by providing high-quality administrative and logistical support. The successful candidate will ensure that internal and external service users are provided with key information on People Operations processes and procedures, assist in talent management, respond to routine queries on recruitment procedures, personnel records and file management, and perform timely and effective record keeping of all People Operations activities and documentation. This position will report to the Officer, People Operations.

Key Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in management or related field.
  • One to two years of related experience in Human Resources, preferably in the development sector.
  • Good knowledge of Human Resources administration, recruiting and training and development.
  • Good understanding of Labor Act and Social Security Act.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform the following job responsibilities:

  • Update the approved organization chart for the current year.
  • Support in preparing the budget for next year and provide necessary support in re-budgeting if required.
  • Prepare a recruitment plan for any given position in consultation with Hiring Manager, recruitment panel and People Operations team.
  • Participate in the recruitment process providing necessary support in preparing selection reports for the positions below Officer level under the guidance of Officer and Sr. Manager, People Operations.
  • Conclude reference and background checks of new recruits.
  • Prepare bios of new hires and send them to Country Office (CO) Nepal and Global Office (GO).
  • Prepare and finalize orientation schedule after circulating it with other departments.
  • Support Officer, People Operations in reviewing and segregating capacity building requests and implementing PLK/RtR Learning and Development philosophy upon Sr. Manager, People Operations endorsement.
  • Coordinate and support the Administration team in finalizing/selecting vendors for capacity building initiatives.
  • Track staff development budget.
  • Provide required payroll data to Payroll Outsource Service (POS) after consultation within the team.
  • Review payroll received from POS, provide comment(s) under the guidance of Officer, People Operations and send the payroll to Sr. Manager People Ops for review.
  • Under the guidance of Officer, People Operations, create Social Security Fund (SSF) and CIT vouchers for retirement fund.
